Dynamics of the Galactic Spheroid

The intrinsic shape and the kinematics of the Galactic bulge and the metal-poor stellar halo are discussed. There is strong evidence that the Galactic bulge is triaxial, and is rotating rapidly. The stellar halo is nearly round, rotates slowly, and has an anisotropic velocity distribution.
