1 Ellen Graham at the Yale University Press has kindly informed me that a version of the Africa, by Bergin and Alice S. Wilson, ‘may be ready for publication before the end of 1976.’ It is devoutly to be hoped that Yale will also locate and publish a new Secretum, which would be much more valuable than either of these otherwise worthwhile projects.

2 An apparent mistranslation at 1,115, may be a printer's error: a ‘you’ should follow ‘thrust.’
