The Institute of Psychoanalysis would like to announce Action in Place of Thought, Destruction in Place of Pain: Psychoanalytic Explorations in Forensic Psychiatry, a 1-day meeting taking place on Saturday 3 October 2009 at the Institute of Psychoanalysis, London. This meeting is aimed at all in forensic mental health. Psychoanalysts and psychiatrists from both secure and out-patient National Health Service settings will explore the relevance of psychoanalytic ideas to forensic psychiatry. The Royal College of Psychiatrists Faculty of General and Community Psychiatry Annual Meeting - Evolving Services, Evolving Treatments - will take place on 15-16 October 2009 at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff. A Child Psychiatry Consultants’ Update Course will take place on 1 December 2009 at The Wolfson Lecture Theatre, Institute of Psychiatry, De Crespigny Park, London. This popular 1-day course aims to update consultant child and adolescent psychiatrists and other child mental health professionals on the latest clinical and research findings in child and adolescent mental health. Keynote speaker: Professor Mark Dadds. Topics will include what's new in non-drug ADHD treatments (Professor Eric Taylor), evidence-based treatment for chronic fatigue (Professor Trudie Chalder), and research and clinical practice in paediatric bipolar disorder.
