AWARDS

Melinda Gann Hall, professor, department of political science, Michigan State University, has been named a Fulbright Distinguished Chair. Hall will use the funding to support her six-month residency at the University of Edinburgh School of Law, studying UK subnational courts.

Charlie Jeffery, professor of politics and senior vice-principal, University of Edinburgh, was awarded a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s birthday honors.

Aseema Sinha, associate professor, department of government, Claremont McKenna College, received a Fulbright-Nehru Research award for 2016–2017 for the project “Transforming the US–India Partnership: The Role of Economic and Social Linkages.”

Sharon Stanley, associate professor, political science, University of Memphis, received the 2016 University of Memphis Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award.

Dvora Yanow, guest professor at Wageningen University’s Communication, Philosophy, and Technology group, was awarded a fellowship at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg/Centre for Global Cooperation Research, University of Duisburg-Essen, Duisburg, Germany. As Senior Fellow from April 2016-March 2017, she will be writing a book on her research on state-created categories at the intersection of immigrant integration policies and race-ethnic identities.

ACTIVITIES

Michael Barnett, University Professor of International Affairs and Political Science, George Washington University, and Elizabeth Shakman Hurd, associate professor of political science at Northwestern University, presented a seminar “Thinking about Religion and International Order” at Graduate Centre in Governance and International Affairs at the University of Queensland in Australia.

Terrence Casey, department of humanities and social sciences, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Timothy Hellwig, department of political science and the Institute for European Studies, Indiana University, Bloomington, participated in a discussion on “Brexit: Political, Economic and National Security Implications” in September 2016.

Gary Schaub, Jr., senior researcher at the Centre for Military Studies at the University of Copenhagen, testified before the Defence Committee of the Danish Parliament on “International experience in the purchase of fighter aircraft” on May 25, 2016.
