page 387 note 2 This excavation has not been published but a note was included loc. cit., p. 349. The ‘firepit’ may in fact have been a post hole, and the charcoal from it the charred stump of the post. Two stone cists and an oval hearth were found elsewhere in the monument. The only object found was a flaked axe of Graig Lwyd rock.
