1 The so-called Calvo Clause is a contract stipulation by which a private party accepts as the only and final settlement of dispute jurisdiction the domestic jurisdiction of the state party to that contract. It has also implied the waiver of future diplomatic protection claims, once local remedies have been exhausted by the private party to the contract.
