1 Beyond the scope of this writing is the most intriguing controversy over whether the current limiting factor in the progress of science is objectivity or subjectivity. In regard to this controversy, it may be recalled that frequently there are rather strong cries to the effect that we should stop accumulating facts (objective observations) and catch up with ourselves by digesting those facts (by devoting some time to subjective thinking).
