In view of their inherent simplicity single piece molds should always be the first consideration when deciding on casting methods. However, the complexity of shape or the intricate contour of a specimen often dictates that a multiple-piece mold be made. This is especially true when a three dimensional cast is required and a simple surface impression or “peel” will not suffice.
