Cathodoluminescence from Therimochemically reduced MgO Crystals

Abstract
Cathodoluminescence of thermochemically reduced MgO crystals has been studied in the scanning electron microscope. Two peaks at around 3.0eV (410nm) and 2.4eV (520nm) have been detected. The intensity evolution of these two peaks with temperature and electron beam irradiation has been recorded. The results are analyzed on the basis of emission from anion vacancies (F and F+ centers)
