Amorphous carbon and infrared absorbing glass particulate additives to polyethlene terephthalate increased its infrared absorptance. Significantly lower volume concentrations of carbon were required for a given absorptance increase; however, test bars with glass additive concentrations displaying ˜90% absorptances were largely aesthetically unaltered. Carbon additions to produce the same infrared absorptance resulted in nearly opaque test bars.
