1 Professor A.P. suggests that Fiṣal in the title al-Fiṣal fl'l-Milal wal-Ahwā wal-Niḥal is “an arbitrary broken plural of faṣl”. Few ill accept this. It would be simpler to vocalize faṣl, since Milal with Nḥial furnishes a rhyme.
