Further experiments on the effect of removing the soluble humus from a soil on its productiveness

Extract
The removal of soluble humus by alkaline extraction from both a garden and a field soil reduced the productiveness over a series of crops in pot experiments. The field soil showed an initial but temporary increase in productiveness.
