Luce has pointed out in a review of The common scientist in The Irish Times, 2 Jan. 1971, that the two societies devoted to natural philosophy that flourished in Trinity College between 1698 and 1707 cannot be ignored as a possible link between the second and third phases of the Dublin Society's existence.
