Effect of different pulses on development, growth and reproduction of Heliothis armigera (Hubner) (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae)

Abstract

Per cent survival, larval period and weight, pupal duration and weight, emergence, adult longevity and fecundity of Heliothis armigera (Hubner) were affected by the pulse species on which it was reared. The pulses could be classified into two groups i.e. pigeon pea and chick pea which were suitable for growth, development and fecundity and black gram, sweet pea, green gram, broad bean and lentil which were unsuitable.

Résumé

Les espèces de legumineuses sur lesquelles les Heliothis armigera (Hubner) adultes etaient elèvés, ont pu influencees le pourcentage d'emergence, de longervité et de fecondité de ces derniers. D'autre part ces mêmes espèces ont influencés le pourcentage de survie, de la periode et du poids larvaire ainsi que celui de la durée du developpement et du poids des chrysalides. Les legumineuses ont pu être classifier en 2 groupes: - par exemple les petits pois sont apropriès pour la croissance, le developpement et la fecondité et les pois chiches, les pois de senteur, les horicots et les lentiles qui n'etaient pas apropriés.
