Shocked Molecular Gas in the Supernova Remnant IC 443: Models with an Enhanced Ionization Rate

The high molecular abundances seen in IC443 may be due to hot chemistry in shocked gas or to an increase in the cosmic ray ionization rate. New calculations reported here show that shock chemistry dominates over the relevant short time scale.
