Cost Scaling Laws and Their Origin: Design Strategy for an Optical Array Telescope
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 12 April 2016
Abstract
Power law relationships between cost and aperture of optical telescopes are shown to be approximations to polynomial expressions. These polynomials, which are derived for telescopes of traditional and cost-reduced design, have implications for the cost-effective design of an optical array telescope.
