A survey of acute-care hospitals found that rapid molecular diagnostic tests (RMDTs) have been widely adopted. Although many hospitals use their antimicrobial stewardship team and/or guidelines to help clinicians interpret results and optimize treatment, opportunities to more fully achieve the potential benefits of RMDTs remain.
ADDITIONAL PRESENTATION. An abstract summarizing the results of this study was accepted for presentation at the 6th Decennial International Conference on Healthcare Associated Infections, Atlanta, Georgia, March 26–30, 2020. The conference was canceled, however, due to the COVID-19 crisis. Abstracts will be published in a supplementary issue of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.
