Not Lesbian Philosophy
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 11 March 2020
Abstract
Presenting reasoned rejections of the hierarchical implications of “philosopher” and the sexual implications of “lesbian,” the author's method leads her to indicate that her resistance to these names is motivated partly by particular facts of her early life.

Notes
Ideas from Chris Cuomo and Sally Tatnall have been helpful for this writing (I heard both of them speak about philosophy at a meeting of the Society for Women in Philosophy in Edwardsville, Illinois, on March 7, 1992).
I appreciate also responses to an earlier version of the piece—but the rewriting has changed it so much that the earlier “version” is really a different piece—by Claudia Card, Marilyn Friedman, and two anonymous reviewers.
