The principal goal of the Lunar Orbiter program was to obtain photographic coverage of selected areas of the lunar surface at resolutions of 1 and 8 m. As the success of the program was greater than originally anticipated, the photographic coverage was extended to include the entire front side of the Moon at a resolution one order of magnitude greater than possible from the Earth and almost all of the far side. In this paper, a selection of photographs obtained from all five missions will be presented.
