page 239 note 1 A new venture, edited by Professor S. S. Frere. The first volume is most impressive. It contains articles, thirteen in number, by well-known scholars, including the Editor himself (on the Roman Theatre at Canterbury). An interesting and valuable section (Roman Britain in 1969) supplies information on sites explored, with detailed descriptions, and inscriptions found (pp. 269–315). There are some reviews. Pp. xvii + 347, with 38 plates, 86 figures, and 13 tables. Britannia will appear once a year and costs £4·00 for the general public, but members of the Roman Society will subscribe less.
page 239 note 2 Volume 2 (1969) contains fifteen articles on a variety of subjects, literary, historical, and archaeological, by distinguished scholars. Pp. vi + 284, with 6 plates. £4·05 net.
page 239 note 3 Volume 74 (June 1970) contains nineteen articles, mostly on literary topics, and the usual summaries of Dissertations for the Degree of Ph.D. Pp. viii + 350. £4·75 net (from the Oxford U.P.).s
