1 Thanner, Revolution i Sverige efter Karl XII:s död, Uppsala, 1953. His dissertation has a brief summary in French, which might have been helpful for Rothkrug had he come across it. Rothkrug's bibliography of secondary works is exemplary in its fullness and he has used e.g. the interesting Finnish work by H. Kirkinen, Les origines de la conception moderne de I’homme-machine: le probléme de l’âme en France à la fin du règne de Louis XIV (1670–1715) which appeared in Helsinki in 1960 – a book which though published in French is probably not sufficiently known in this country.
