Summary

Some commercial silicone (Dow Corning Silastic E, J) and PVC (Dugdale DD 118) synthetic rubbers make excellent casting materials for the production of high-fidelity replicas of fossils from complex natural cavities. The methods described avoid tearing of the cast and damage to the mould.
