Aim . To evaluate the condition of a prisoner with Antisocial Personality Disorder. Background. S.B, a28yrs male was seen by Psychiatrist, Calcutta after getting into a fight with another inmate over a Rs 10 bet. S.B was brutally beaten up by Wardens of the jail. The case history reveals that S.B was jailed twice before for cheating case and for assulting one friend. This time S.B was jailed for fighting with a police constable. During interrogation S.B admit that he has beaten the other inmate who refused to pay money. S.B wanted to show his power and there was no remorse for his action. Family history showed his neglected childhood, father left home at his age of 6 years and his mother had an extra marital relation with a neighbour. He failed twice in school examination and left school. He used to started smoking and drinking alcohol at early age. Method… After taking history, physical and mental state examination was done. MMSE was applied. The patient was alert, oriented to time, place, and persons. Sometime he was rude, disrespectful, otherwise cooperative. Ne spoke normally and no disorder of thought processes and thought content noticed. Results…S.B was provisionally diagnosed as Antisocial Personality Disorder. Conclusion … Patients with Antisocial Personality Disorder can be kept in correctional home and prison environment will detoriate the condition. S.B was treated with SSRI and Mood stabilizer. He was advised to attend Vocational training, and clay modelling class. He was also asked to attend Counseling.
