Abstract

The exquisite astrometric data to be delivered by GAIA can only besuccessfully exploited if complemented by accurate astrophysicalinformation on all observed objects. In this contribution I willdiscuss the preparations that are necessary for obtaining thisinformation. The emphasis will be on the task of optimising the GAIAphotometric system and the development of photometric data analysisalgorithms.
