Abstract

Early, it has been suggested that Keplerian flows should beunstable regarding shear instabilities. This hypothesis, not seriouslyconsidered nowadays, is strongly sustained by a recent re-analysis ofexperimental data on shear flows and new laboratory experiments. Wereview some consequences on steady state accretion dises of a viscositylaw derived from shear experiments. In particular, we show thatit wholly suppresses the thermal and viscous instabilities within theradiation pressure dominated region, unlike the standard theory.
