Abstract

This meeting was dedicated to Jean-Louis Leroy, whopioneered polarimetry in French astronomy, and who is one of theleading experts in the field. He applied this diagnostics toolto better understand various astrophysical objects: the Sun, comets, stars, the interstellar medium. Some of his major achievements will berecalled here.
