The exciting progress in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analytics are unlocking new approaches, making the marine industry safer and more efficient. As an industry it is already applying a wide range techniques to improve design, manufacture, operation and end-of-life of our assets. This is done by preforming leading fundamental research and developing the outcomes into into a range of real-world applications.
Thanks to the efforts of our Guest Editors, Data-Centric Engineering has published the articles in this special collection in order to highlight data-driven research in the marine sector and to inspire a wider uptake of these approaches in the Marine Industry, This collection places special emphasis on what the journal terms translational research: articles that show the impact that data science has made in an industry or other downstream settings and that end with a set of recommendations for the future that can understood by other industry teams or manager.
Articles published to date are below. Further articles and an editorial to be added in 2024.
