page 233 note 1 It may be observed that, while the figure of Job in the earliest illustrated Coptic MS. (probably 6th–7th cent.—Ciasca, Sacr. Bibl. Frag., tab. xix., Hyvernat, Album V.) wears the rich Byzantine costume of which recent explorations have recovered so many specimens, the headdress of his daughters bears a remarkable likeness to that of the women in the Ashburnham MS.
