In the April number of this journal, page 79, it is asserted by Mr. Morrison that “the well known orthosia ferruginoides Guen. is redescribed as Xanthia ralla Gr. & Rob.”

Having examined the type specimen of ralla, in the possession of the Buffalo Society of Natural sciences, I am able to pronounce it entirery distinct, and further, that it differs so much from the species to which it is above referred that there would seem to be no valid excuse for the erroneous reference.
