An unusual new genus of eurychoromyiine Lauxaniidae (Diptera)

Abstract

The unusual new Neotropical genus Exalla is described and illustrated, along with three new species, E. browni, E. macalpinei, and E. shewelli. A key to the species is provided. The species are known from wet montane rainforest habitats in Colombia and Ecuador at elevations above 1500m.

On donne ici la description et des illustrations du curieux nouveau genre néotropical Exalla, de même que celles de trois nouvelles espèces, E. browni, E. macalpinei, et E. shewelli. Une clé permet l'identification des espèces. Les espèces proviennent des habitats humides de forêt pluvieuse de montagne en Colombie et en Équateur à des altitudes au-dessus de 1500m.
