A NEW HYPOSOTER (HYMENOPTERA: ICHNEUMONIDAE) FROM ORGYIA PSEUDOTSUGATA (MCD.) (LEPIDOPTERA: LYMANTRIIDAE)1

Abstract

A new species of Hyposoter Foerster from western North America is described based on features of the adult, final-instar cephalic structure, cocoon, and biology. Hyposoter masoni n. sp. is a common parasite of the Douglas-fir tussock moth, Orgyia pseudotsugata.

Résumé

On décrit une nouvelle espèce de Hyposoter Foerster, en provenance de l'ouest de l'Amérique du Nord, d'après des caractères de l'adulte, la structure céphalique du dernier stade, le cocon et la biologie. Hyposoter masoni n. sp. est un parasite commun de la chenille à houppes du Douglas, Orgyia pseudotsuga.
