In Rymer, vol. viii. p. 398, is an injunction for seizing into the king's hands the ancient liberties, privileges, and franchises of the city of York, on account of this insurrection, dated Pontefract Castle, June 3rd. This perhaps was issued upon the arrival of the Earl of Westmerland with his prisoners, and the execution need not have taken place till the date given above, even supposing the king had taken the earliest opportunity of going to York.
