Among the points discussed were (1) the possibility that Socrates was the common source of the pronouncements by Plato and Democritus on this subject; (2) Collingwood's view of Plato's attitude in the Ion; (3) the relation of Phaedrus 245 A to passages in earlier dialogues, viz. Ion, Cratylus, Meno; (4) the silence of the Republic on this matter; (5) the difficulties arising out of Laws 719c.
