Journals are central to the maintenance of vibrant intellectual communities but also reliant on these communities for their proper functioning. As editors, we remain indebted to those individuals who help us run a successful journal, and hope that more members will join us in this, as others who have served tirelessly step down to pursue other interests.

The journal’s editorial team has seen a number of changes since the beginning of our term. We wish to take the opportunity to highlight these changes in the pages of the journal, thanking those colleagues who stepped down from their roles, and welcoming other colleagues to the team, all the while not forgetting about the ongoing commitment of the colleagues who continue to serve BEQ.

Much of the editorial work that goes into selecting and curating manuscript submission relies on the efforts of the journal’s associate editors. It is with much gratitude that we thank Gary Weaver and Juliane Reinecke for all the work they have been doing for BEQ over the years. Gary has been a long-standing pillar of the journal. He led the journal as editor in chief from 2005 to 2011, then generously stayed on as associate editor for another ten years, and now has agreed to join the editorial board! BEQ’s readership has been fortunate to benefit from this continuity, and we thank Gary for his ongoing commitment.

Juliane’s star as associate editor has quickly risen. During the last two or three years of Bruce Barry’s editorship, Juliane did most of the initial decision-making on qualitative empirical manuscripts. That was a truly impressive amount of work, always done with dedication and care. We thank Juliane for all her work for BEQ, and we wish her success on her next adventures.

The following colleagues kindly accepted our invitation to join the team as associate editors: Cedric Dawkins (Loyola University Chicago), Niki den Nieuwenboer (University of Kansas), and Daniel Arenas (Ramon Llull University). We appreciate their commitment and are looking forward to working with them. Welcome!

Also, the editorial board has seen several changes. Some colleagues decided to step down. Among them are John Boatright, who has served the journal from its very first volume onward; Max Bazerman; Norman Bowie; George Brenkert; Jeff Frooman; Sean Hannah; and Marcia Miceli. Thank you to all of them.

We are happy to see the names of the following colleagues on the journal’s masthead as new members of the editorial board: Laura Albareda, Anne Antoni, Bruce Barry, Caleb Bernacchio, Wendy Chapple, Marianna Fotaki, Jennifer Goodman, Robert Hughes, Michael Kates, Jukka Mäkinen, Emilio Marti, Sareh Pouryousefi, Laura Spence, and Glen Whelan. A warm welcome to all of them too!

In the spirit of maintaining the flow of editorial energies, we invite members of the business ethics community who feel passionate about maintaining the quality of the journal and further reinvigorating its mission to join as reviewers, and we further encourage experienced reviewers to contact us to be considered as members of the editorial board.

New Special Issue Call

The present issue features, in addition to a nicely complementary set of research articles and two interesting book reviews, the Call for Papers for a special journal issue on “Organizational Ethics of Life and Death.” We are excited that the guest editorial team of Mar Pérezts, Marianna Fotaki, Yuliya Shymko, and Gazi Islam will be elaborating on moral questions around the roles of (business) organizations and organizing in the ethics of life and death. The special issue may give a “sharper” edge to business ethics by putting existence in the foreground, and simultaneously “soften” that same edge by inquiring into coexistence in the face of life and death.
