page 220 note 1 It must be confessed however that Si. kīto, with t not ⃛r, and Lah. kīttā, with tt not tr, are against such a theory, unless ki⃛ra- is to be read as kir⃛a- (cf. ki⃛ri = Skt. kīrti-), and the form in question here be *kirta-, not *kitra-.
