Notes on the Distribution and Breeding-places of Mosquitos in Northern Abyssinia

Little is still known about the distribution of mosquitos in Abyssinia. The first record appears to be that of Theobald (1904) who described specimens collected by Balfour along the banks of the Baro and Pibor Rivers, which flow from Western Abyssinia into the Sobat, a tributary of the White Nile. Scott (1927) reported 13 species which he collected from Central Abyssinia, and he refers to two other species previously found by the Mission to Lake Tana (1925).
