A few copies have the date 1666 on the title page, even though the dedication to the Grand Duke is dated 14 July 1667. Printing had been under consideration since 1662. It is therefore proper to refer to two states of the title page, but not, as is frequently done, to an edition of 1666. No copies seem to have been distributed until late in 1667.
