Taste sensitivity to PTC has been studied on a number of families from the same population, half of which showed in their members evident biological, pathological or degenerative variants. The percentage of non-tasters is of 22% in the healthy sample and of 26% in the loaded one, but this difference does not appear to be statistically significant. The biological loads considered should therefore not influence PTC sensitivity thresholds and taste perception.
