* [Editor's Note]: Fr. Canedo is at present in Europe on a study mission. After assisting in Stockholm at the Eleventh International Congress of Historical Sciences (August 17-30) he has visited several libraries and archives in Sweden, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium. He is now in Spain occupied with investigations into the religious history of the Caribbean region during the Spanish period. In future numbers of THE AMERICAS he will offer special information on Americanist studies in the countries visited by him. In his absence Inter-American Notes are being compiled by the managing editor.
