Summary
Daniel’s revelatory vision is a source of knowledge in the Tanakh. What do modern philosophy and science have to say about this? Does visionary epistemology make contact with empiricism and experimental observation? Or does the Tanakh lack awareness of the mechanisms and interplay of imagination, perception, reason, and knowledge? Biblical criticism addresses Daniel 2 by treating it as a fabrication. What of science and philosophy? If a modern discipline can prove that the knowledge claims of Daniel 2 are not factually correct then this passage must be understood (at least by modernity) as a form of fiction, and biblical criticism is right after all. How do philosophy and science relate to revelatory epistemology in the Tanakh?
