Summary
Thomas A. Durkin follows Laura Pitter with an exploration of the way in which the prosecutions of terrorists in US courts has compromised the rights of individuals and the system as a whole. Focusing on court deference and changing of the rules in one particular terrorism prosecution – that of Adel Daoud, an 18-year-old from suburban Chicago, Durkin details the progression of an FBI sting, the role FISA played in the case, the irregularities that a district court judge and a federal court judge had to maneuver around, and the potential consequences for similar cases.
