General Assemblies of the French Church 1560-1789

Summary
The proceedings of the assemblies are in the Archives nationales de France (classification G8). Those from 1560-1775 were printed in the late eighteenth century in the Collection des proces-verbaux des assemblies generales du clerge de France depuisPannee 1560jusqu'apresent(9vo/s., Paris, 1767-80).Subsequently, the proceedings of the assemblies of 1780, 1782 and 1785-6 were also printed, as was the first part of the assembly of 1788. The second part, however, remains in manuscript. There are two versions, one in the Archives nationales and a superior one in the Bibliotheque Sainte-Genevieve in Paris (MS 199). Page or column numbers for those printed in the Collection are given below. In the following list, assemblies which were part of the Etats generaux are indicated by the use of bold type. Those at which a subsidy was granted to the king are indicated with a +.
