Summary
Persons with disabilities have been described as the largest minority group in the world, while at the same time being largely side-lined in international discourse on violence. This chapter looks at the rights of persons with disabilities in armed conflict and how the international community is falling short in its efforts to meet them. The Inter-Agency Standing Committee Task Team on the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action has elaborated guidelines to address the experiences of persons with disabilities in humanitarian disasters.
