This book reflects the lived experiences of thirty-eight autistic academics (including the author). While the reflections were collected at a specific point in time – July 2020 to June 2021 – our adventures in academia have continued. Some of us have gone on to achieve career success beyond anything we imagined was possible; some of us have remained in the roles we were in at the time of writing; and some of us have left academia due to the toll of working in an environment that can be very hostile to autistic ways of thinking and being.
