During the Covid-19 pandemic, patients with mental illness turned out to be one of the most vulnerable groups of the population, since the forced self-isolation regime was a decrease in the availability of psychiatric care. During this period, the use of telemedicine increased to provide timely assistance.

To analyze the experience of telecare in program of psychosocial rehabilitation of patients with schizophrenia and their relatives and to evaluate its effectiveness.

80 schizophrenia patients in remission of varying quality and 41 relatives participated in rehabilitation program. To assess the effectiveness of telecare, PANSS, SF-36, URICA, PHQ-9, ISI, PSS-10, GAD-7 scales were used.

Psychosocial interventions through telecare were carried out for 12 months. Patients and relatives participated in video sessions on Zoom and Skype Internet platforms, as well as in instant messengers. Rehabilitation program for patients included psychoeducation, skills training, art-therapy, music therapy, bibliotherapy, psychological counseling. Relatives were provided with psychoeducation and psychological counseling. The analysis showed that the use of telecare contributed to increase in the availability of psychotherapeutic assistance, the participation of patients with low motivation and prompt problem solving. Within the studied period, only 5% of patients (4 persons) developed relapses, two patients (2.5%) were hospitalized. Patients and relatives showed a high level of satisfaction with the care provided, positive dynamics of psychological indicators.

The effectiveness of psychosocial rehabilitation program through telecare has been proven. The possibility of carrying out various psychosocial interventions in online format has been shown.

Bipolar disorder (BD) is associated to high personal and social burden, impaired social functioning and high levels of disability. Recent studies have showed that relapse rates are significantly reduced in those patients whose families receive psychoeducational interventions. Even though most of available evidences are related to the short-term efficacy of psychoeducational family interventions (PFI). No evidence is available on medium and long-term efficacy.

This study aims to assess the efficacy after one and five years of PFI in BD in terms of: 1) improvement of patients’ symptoms and global functioning; 2) improvement of relatives’ objective and subjective burden and coping strategies.

A multicenter, controlled, outpatient trial has been conducted in BD patients and their key relatives, recruited in 11 Italian mental health centers. Patient’s clinical status, social and personal functioning, burden of illness, and relative’s burden and coping strategies were assessed with specific instruments at baseline, after 1 year and after 5 years.

137 families were recruited, 70 allocated to the experimental intervention. After one year, an increasing positive effect on patients’ clinical status, global functioning and objective and subjective burden was found. Moreover, were observed a reduced number of relapses and of hospitalizations after five years, compared to the control group. A reduction in the levels of family burden and an improvement of their coping strategies were also observed.

Positive effects of the experimental intervention persist over the mid and long-term period. PFI should be provided in mental health centres to patients with BD and their relatives.

The VML method was developed and designed to treat Apraxia of speech focusing on the Autistic population. After experiencing over 2000 children in many countries around the world, we have developed an algorithm which represents the VML analysis process. The algorithm includes almost 1000 conditions and was found reliable with copying the in-person VML evaluation. The algorithm generates a treatment program with 95% accuracy of the elected treatment topics.

The objective of the VML software is to enable the VML analysis and treatment at low cost to wide population around the world, at home. The program includes main treatment topics, detailed exercises, picture and videos demonstrating the proposed treatment and general guidelines. The software users are supported by the VML experts around the world.

Based on the algorithm, we have developed a software which can produce a highly detailed motor speech treatment program. The software is web based, available now in English, Mandarin and soon in other languages as well. The user is required to fill in the speech data using the software interface.

The uniqe sofetware was tested and found to have 90% reliability rate in comparison to a VML expert treatment program. In addition it was found to have the ability to over come mild evaluation mistakes while producing an effective treatment program.

The MYVML evaluation software is innovation in the field of speech treatment, striving to share the knowledge and give the treatment tool to as many practitioners and families as possible.

Interdisciplinarity involves the combining of two or more academic disciplines into one activity (e.g. a research project). It is about creating something new by crossing traditional boundaries between academic disciplines or schools of thought, as new needs and professions emerge, and thinking across them. The roots of interdisciplinarity can be found hundreds of years ago however, In the twentieth century it became a more academic movement.

Interdisciplinarity also involves integrated thinking, borrowing ideas and metaphors, collaboration, flexibility in thinking, innovation and complex problem solving. The traditional professional model is usually disciplinary. Complex problems sometimes demand interdisciplinary solution. There is a constant dispute between the disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches.

The MDT (Multidimessional therapy) method is part of the transdisciplinary approach. This is the next step after interdisciplinarity in which there are no boundaries between disciplines and the role of a primary therapist is established.

The MDT is a system that implements the integrative therapy perception, and strives for optimal integration of all developmental areas, disciplines, methods, goals, schools, activities etc. So the child is seen as a whole and all developmental areas are considered in unison. The integration takes place at different aspects of therapy: evaluation, analysis process, case management, team work, disciplines and methods, therapist, goals and exercises.The MDT uses variuos integrative tools evaluation such as analysis process, primary therapist or integrative goals and exercises.

This lecture will present the structure and uniqueness of the system and the approach in order to introduce the beneficiary aspects of the integrative model in treatment of complex cases.

The knowledge aboutthe integration of letter motor programs during learning to write support the idea of an interdependence of visual and kinesthetic controls to direct the strokes.

The objective of our study is to analyze the effect of the vision suppression both on the postural-gestural organization and on the spatial/temporal/kinematic parameters in a prescriptural task.

35 school aged children with handwriting disorders (HD group) aged 6-11 years and 35 matched typical children were included in the study. They performed a prescriptural task of copying a cycloid line of loops, carried out under two conditions, with open eyes versus closed eyes. Postural-gestural measures were recorded with two video cameras allowing 2D reconstruction of the gesture. Spatial/temporal/kinematic measures were recorded with a digital pen.

The HD group showed a significantly poorer postural control and an improvement in the spatial/temporal/kinematic parameters of the loops when they closed their eyes compared to eyes open. In typical group, the postural-gestural organization became significantly more mature but with no significant influence on the spatial/temporal/kinematic parameters of the loops.

HDs could be partly explained by a deficit in the processing of proprioceptive/kinesthetic feedback and a disruptive effect of the visual control on the quality of the prescriptural drawings. The ability to direct the strokes would remain dependent on sensory feedbacks, themselves insufficiently efficient, which would lead to difficulties in reaching a proactive control of handwriting. These results should be able to enhance clinical practices and to contribute to clinical decision making processes for handwriting disorders remediation.

Anxiety and depressive disorders are among the most prevalent psychiatric disorders, yet there aren’t many studies adressing treatment modalities in daily hospitals.

The aim of our study is to present organisational structure and treatment modalities in Daily hospital for non-psychotic disorders in University Psychiatric Clinic “Sveti Ivan“, Zagreb, Croatia.

All patients in Daily Hospital attend 6 months programme. The treatment programme consists of psychodynamic group psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, antistress and mindfulness workshops, psychoeducational workshops, cinema therapy and sociotherapy. Along with clinical follow-up, all the patients are given sociodemographic questionnaire designed for our programme, World Health Organisation Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQoL BREF) and The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale 21 (DASS-21).

At discharge moderate to significant improvement was observed in different aspects of functioning among most of the participants, verified by clinical follow-up as well as by results obtained through questionnaires.

Our data show that patients with anxiety and depressive disorders can be efffectively treated by such comprehensive treatment approach.

Given the negative social representation attributed to mental illness, it is urgent to reconfigure its representation, not as an individual problem, but also as a collective. Several solutions have been indicated to improve the skills and quality of life (QoL) of these individuals. Among these, psychosocial rehabilitation programs stand out to keep individuals inserted in society reaching a level of independent functioning.

This study aims to: - assess the level of QoL, social support, treatment adherence, mental health status and mental health literacy of Portuguese people with HIV integrated into a community intervention program “InPulsar - Giros na Rua” program [which aims to contribute to the improvement of the socio-sanitary conditions of people who use psychoactive substances and to their social and therapeutic referral, as well as promoting risk reduction by intervening in a public space]; - improve mental health literacy levels, adherence to therapeutic regimen and QoL in individuals with HIV, after 12 months of implementation of a psychosocial rehabilitation program [biweekly sessions].

We will perform a single-group pre-experimental study with pre- and post-intervention evaluation, supported by the participatory methodology in health.

This study has received ethical approval from the local IRB. Data collection will start in November 2021 and will be completed in November 2022.

Through a multidisciplinary approach, this study will allow the development of health interventions articulated with psychosocial interventions based on various educational and behavioural strategies, promoting literacy and adherence to the therapeutic regimen.

Previous research confirmed high rates (20-89%) of non-adherence to medication among psychotic and bipolar patients. Results suggests that positive attitude to treatment has the highest influence on patients’ adherence and significant differences between treatment related attitudes and treatment adherence of psychotic and bipolar patients were found.

The aims were to compare treatment related attitudes and treatment adherence between psychotic (schizophrenia spectrum) and bipolar patients; to evaluate the relationship between treatment related attitudes, illness perceptions and health locus of control in psychotic and bipolar populations.

Treatment attitude was evaluated with the Drug Attitude Scale (DAI). Treatment adherence was rated by doctors on Clinical Global Impression (CGI) Scale. Illness perceptions were evaluated with the Illness Perception Questionnaire for Schizophrenia (IPQS) and health locus of control with the Multidimensional of Health Locus of Control Scale –Form C (MHLC) at the end of inpatient care.

Number of participants was 51. Data indicated more positive treatment attitude in bipolar patients than in psychotic patients. MHLC scores indicated significant role in symptoms control for chance (p=0,042) and „powerful” persons (p=0,011) in psychotic patients. IPQS scores indicated that bipolar patients rather have perceptions about treatment influencing symptoms than psychotic patients. Treatment related attitudes were strongly influenced by perceptions about controllability of symptoms by treatment.

Bipolar patients had more positive treatment attitude and perceptions about effectiveness of treatment on symptoms. This illness perception about controllability of symptoms by treatment was the strongest determinant of positive treatment attitude in this study.

More often, cardiac surgery patients (CSP) receive systematic psychological aid after surgery. However, their need for psychosocial interventions in the perioperative period is underestimated.

The goal is to determine the stages of psychosocial interventions for CSP that could cover the whole period of their treatment and rehabilitation.

Analysis of scientific papers and practical experience gained in cardiologic clinic allowed dividing the system of psychosocial interventions for cardiac surgery patients into periods in accordance with actual stages of medical aid for CSPs.

According to the principles of personalized approach, we determined six consecutive semantically different stages of psychosocial interventions: out-of-hospital pre-surgery, in-hospital pre-surgery, early post-surgery, in-hospital post-surgery, post-surgery rehabilitation, and out-of-hospital rehabilitation. They have different duration and cover the whole period of treatment and rehabilitation of CSPs beginning with the moment of indication to surgery up to the complete rehabilitation and full adaptation to their post-surgery somatic condition. Each stage has its own goals, main objectives and expectations. Duration of the stages is conditional and can change depending on the nature of every clinical situation.

Determination of clinical stages in the process of psychosocial interventions for CSPs gives ground for selecting optimal psychological methods and techniques for each stage and sets exact goals, achievement of which becomes possible only through a properly organised work of an interdisciplinary team of specialists.

The approach to evaluating the effectiveness of psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) of mentally ill patients implies a multidimensional, hierarchical consideration of mental pathology with the inclusion of clinical and psychopathological, socio-environmental and personal indicators when setting goals and objectives of PSR

Development of algorithms and models for evaluating the effectiveness of PSR taking into account: clinical, socio-demographic, psychological characteristics of the patient and the characteristics of the family environment, as well as factors of psychiatric care.

Clinical, statistical, algorithms of the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) [1].

Numerical estimates of changes (before and after the PSR program) in the main areas of patient’s functioning disorders, such as motivation, cognition, compliance, coping strategies, family, skills, immediate environment, and others, are proposed as particular criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of PSR. Quantitative estimates for particular criteria are obtained on the basis of rank estimates, which are converted into numerical ones based on AHP algorithms [1]. Quantitative integral estimates of the effectiveness of PSR are obtained on the basis of partial estimates, taking into account the weight of the corresponding areas of impaired functioning of patients.

The developed approach opens up prospects for obtaining numerical, partial and integral estimates based on various rank scales, which are of interest from the point of view of forming criteria-indicators (markers) of the effectiveness of psychosocial, rehabilitation, psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic measures. Realizamos un estudio prospectivo en 15 pacientes, diagnosticados de psicosis, según el DSM V, y que son usuarios de una Unidad de Rehabilitación activa, estos pacientes utilizan las modalidades de hospitalización residencial o el programa de hospitalización parcial.

El objetivo principal fue establecer el perfil del paciente (retrato de robot), que utiliza este tipo de dispositivo.

Se lleva a cabo un protocolo de evaluación que incluye la entrevista de evaluación psicopatológica (DSMV) y las escalas: impulsividad (Barrat), agresividad (Burke), calidad de vida (Woqol bref), actitud ante la medicación (DAI), Avd ( RAI), riesgo de suicidio (Plutchick), riesgo de caídas (Downton), funcionalidad (EEAG) y hábitos de consumo (DAU).

Con todos estos elementos y teniendo en cuenta la edad y sexo de los pacientes, intentamos establecer el tipo de perfil de paciente del área de Rehabilitación activa de nuestro servicio, luego luego de mediciones periódicas de todas estas variables estableceremos la influencia de Terapia de rehabilitación en la mejora o empeoramiento de nuestros pacientes.

CONCLUSIONES El perfil de tipo del paciente incluido en una Unidad de Rehabilitación Activa está compuesto por un varón de 42 años, con consumo esporádico de toxinas, con rasgos de personalidad donde predomina la agresividad, con un perfil bajo de efectos adversos y con conciencia parcial de la enfermedad. y mala adherencia a la medicación Cabe señalar que sus niveles en la escala de calidad de vida son altos, incluso comparables o en ocasiones superiores a los de la población general según la escala Woqol bref.

Since the second half of the 20th century, studies have been carried out that prove the benefits of the hospital environment in the improvement and recovery of patients. In this way, it would be important to understand what has already been done within the reality of Psychiatry Department.

To review the literature about the documentation of hospital environment influence in patients’ recovery.

We performed a MEDLINE search using the key words: hospital environment influence and patients’ recovery or patients healing. We only included studies with full text published in English.

In the selected articles, we only found studies developed in the Surgery department; in one of them, the authors tested the presence of plants in the patients’ rooms and assessed lower blood pressure values, less pain and less anxiety than the control group; in another, they tested the presence of music and landscape, although there was no difference in terms of pain assessment, there was an improvement in the assessment of the postoperative experience. A review pointed some other aspects that patients linked with their recovery, such as: audio and visual environment; specifically, in anxiety, pain and stress. On the other hand, other studies address the influence of the hospital environment on the satisfaction of health care providers.

Although hospital environment has already demonstrated an impact on the patient recovery, none (in our review) was developed directly in a Psychiatric Department; further studies are needed to understand the impact on this kind of service.

Appeal to pedagogical abilities, important for the success of the teacher, allows us to highlight some actual requirements for the scientist.

The research is aimed at studying various competencies as a factor of success of the teacher.

The method of work is a bibliographic analysis.

Firstly, they are communicative abilities, by which are meant the ability to communicate, the ability to find an approach to students, to build trustful dialogue.

Secondly, they are didactic abilities that make it possible to intelligently present the knowledge, stimulate interest in the subject, stimulate students ’cognitive activity, the ability to organize students’ independent work, and form their need for independent knowledge acquisition.

Thirdly, the academic pedagogical abilities of scientists, that is, the abilities for the corresponding field of science, the knowledge of the subject taught, not only in the volume of the training course, but much wider and deeper are the aspect of the necessary pedagogical competencies of scientists.

Fourthly, pedagogical abilities are related to the research orientation of the teacher, with his need and ability to conduct his own research work.

Fifth, among the pedagogical abilities, the pedagogical imagination is distinguished, presupposing the ability to project and predict the development of the student’s actions.

It can be concluded that modern education and society as a whole formed a new request to science and scientists, consisting in the development of their respective pedagogical competences.

Cognitive Adaptation Training (CAT) is a psychosocial intervention focusing on reducing the impact of cognitive disorders on daily functioning in people with severe mental illness (SMI). Similar to many evidence based practices (EBP), implementation of CAT in routine care lags behind, despite the established effectiveness of the intervention. This so called ‘science-to-service gap’ is a widespread problem in mental health care. We developed an innovative implementation program to facilitate implementation of CAT and similar interventions in routine care.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation program and to determine factors that impede or facilitate the implementation process.

We conducted a multicenter cluster randomized controlled trial comparing the implementation program to a single training program in four mental health institutions (a total of 21 rehabilitation teams) in The Netherlands. Focus groups, semistructured interviews and questionnaires were used at multiple levels of service delivery (service user, professional, team, organization). Assessments took place before, during and after implementation and at follow-up, adding up to a total duration of 14 months. Data were analyzed using multilevel modeling.

Data collection is complete and analyses on the effectiveness of the implementation program are ongoing. Preliminary analyses show that team climate (p<.008) and organizational climate (p<.043) significantly predict the attitudes of mental health providers toward EBP.

This implementation research may provide important information about the implementation of psychosocial interventions in practice and may result in a program that is useful for Cognitive Adaptation Training, and possibly for psychosocial interventions in general.

Our hospital has chosen a model that goes beyond long-term hospital inpatient care to a community support for people with severe and persisting mental illnesses. This programme is called Community Support Programme (CSP) and focuses mainly on connecting patients who are being discharged from long-term hospitalization to a community based rehabilitation service.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the CSP among people with severe and persisting mental illness, as a method to support the positive outcomes and reduce the use of hospital resources after a discharge.

This is a retrospect, observational descriptive study. We reviewed 55 cases between 2017 and May of 2021. We analyzed demographic information, diagnosis, duration of stay in the CSP, number of hospitalizations before and after the program, number of emergency visits before and after this program and what kind of community rehabilitation services are connected after the discharge.

We found 58,2% male and 41,8% female. The main diagnoses were schizophrenia; schizoaffective and bipolar disorder. Before the CSP 85.4% of the patients had been hospitalized, and 76% had attended in a psychiatric emergency unit. After the discharge 36,36% required hospitalization, and 40% visited the psychiatric emergencies units. 54,54% of patients didn’t require hospital resources after their discharge from CSP.

The results suggest that the CSP helps to avoid hospitalization, reduce the use of hospital resources and drop outs. It helps the transition from hospitalization to a community based rehabilitation service.

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in individuals with SMI. The sedentary lifestyle that usually guides these individuals associated with the use of some psychotropic drugs increases the risk of adverse events related to these pathologies

Presentation of the Study Protocol for the Implementation of a Psychoeducational Group directed to Prevention and Monitoring Metabolic Syndrome (MS) in patients with SMI

It is intended to implement a psychoeducational program, which includes a 30-minute walk, focused on healthy lifestyle habits, for 16 weeks.

It is intended to include SMI individuals, from a convenience sample, who present any of these criteria: Excess weight; At risk or diagnosed with DM; Sedentary lifestyle; Smoker. Data regarding socio-demographic, clinical and motivational for and about physical activity will be collected from the intervention group. Patients who refuse to join the study will only receive information about lifestyle changes at the beginning and will continue with their usual care.

According to available literature, it is expected that the monitoring and control of these parameters will translate into a benefit in reducing cardiovascular risk factors and optimizing the treatment of MS, contributing to the empowerment of patients in managing their disease and increasing their quality and years of life.

The impact of lifestyle changes proved to be effective and are sometimes lasting, with objective gains in quality of life of these patients. The main measure to face this issue, improve the well-being and physical health of these individuals, is to reduce weight and increase baseline physical activity.

Currently, there are known problems of assessing the severity of psychopathological states based on psychometric (rank) scales [1]. The main problem: ranks are non-numeric information that does not allow the simplest mathematical operations (summation, average) [2] and, as a result, the impossibility of constructing correct models for evaluating states

The problems of assessing the patient’s states are multicriteria. They are solved within the framework of AHP by constructing numerical intensity scales when measuring the dimensions of disorders. This means a correct transition from the rank scale to the scale of relations, in which the estimates are numbers that allow any mathematical operations. The implementation of AHP procedures is based on the application of the AHP normative approach [2], which uses expert comparisons of ratings of the rank scale.

The fundamental difference between the results based on AHP and rank results is due to the fact that numerical estimates of the severity of states are obtained, which can be used for any mathematical processing and the construction of correct models of communication and prediction of the state of patients from many factors, taking into account their weight. In light of rising incidence rates and a mostly late diagnosis, renal cell cancer (RCC) patients are heavily burdened by both their disease and treatment. The structured assessment of their quality of life using patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures is important in order to provide them with appropriate interventions to maintain or improve their quality of life. Available questionnaires are predominantly symptom indices or were developed without conducting patient interviews.

Hence, we report on the ongoing phase I development of an EORTC module for RCC patients, which will be used together with the EORTC QLQ-C30 core questionnaire.

Following the EORTC Quality of Life Group’s Module Development Guidelines, a systematic literature review was conducted. Based on this review, issues were extracted and presented to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients for relevance assessment.

133 publications (14 on the development of RCC-specific PRO measures, 3 qualitative studies, 37 randomised controlled trials, 79 quantitative studies) were identified from which 150 unique issues were extracted. The issue list was reviewed by 14 HCPs (8 clinicians, 3 nurses, 2 psychooncologists, 1 physiotherapist) from 3 countries (Austria, Norway, United Kingdom) and rated regarding their relevance. An additional 13 issues were mentioned in the HCP interviews and included in the issue list.

The extended list of issues is currently used to interview patients. Data collection is expected to be completed by the conference, thus the poster will present the combined relevance scores (HCPs and patients) and the issues selected for the preliminary module to be tested in phase 3.

The 2021 Research Summer School took place virtually, and 7 psychiatric trainees or early career psychiatrists (ECPs) from 7 different European countries participated in a working group on how to conduct a cross-sectional survey study.

To provide an overview of the process of developing an internationally collaborative protocol during the EPA Virtual Research Summer School.

All participants were asked by the Faculty mentor chairing this working group to write a research question that could be investigated through a cross-sectional survey. After a brainstorming discussion, it was decided to investigate the experiences, knowledge, and attitudes of psychiatric trainees and ECPs about electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in Europe, an effective yet controversial procedure.

The process of developing a protocol entailed different phases. First, a literature search was conducted, which supported the need to explore more the attitudes towards ECT among ECPs. Through group discussion the study’s objectives were decided, as well as the most appropriate methodology (including data collection and questionnaire use). At the end of the course, the core of the research plan was presented to all participants at the Research Summer School, preceding its implementation.

Participating in the EPA Research Summer School is a unique experience, a great learning opportunity, and can also lead to fruitful collaborations. It enabled the learning of the key aspects of designing and conducting a survey. In a short period of time, it was possible to design a study protocol for a future international cross-sectional survey on ECT.

Managing healthcare data is a major challenge for today’s medicine. The use of artificial intelligence and big data tools has allowed solving questions related to this topic. However, the wide heterogeneity in the psychiatric consultation record makes the retrospective analysis of these data limited due to a lack of information or differences between specialists.

We aim to develop a platform that allows the structured record of medical care data (based on dementia) while maintaining flexibility and format for its usefulness during clinical practice in psychiatry.

We developed a web-based platform for the structured and semi-structured record of psychiatric evaluation. The instrument is diagnosed-oriented (for our version we used dementia). We used Core outcome sets and expert opinion to identify the relevant outcomes for the attention.

A web-based platform is presented for the care of people with suspected dementia at different levels of care designed with the potential to record information of interest in research but also of clinical utility for closer follow-up.

This strategy allows developing the proposal towards other pathologies of interest. Also, with the integration of recommendation algorithms, a monitoring and recommendation system could be achieved to promote knowledge of psychiatric illness from routine practice. This proposal intends to have an impact by increasing the quality of care, reducing care times, and providing better approaches from primary care systems.
