Summary

Emendations are recorded by page and line numbers. For emendations that extend to two lines or more, only the number of the first line is recorded.

317. 5 furnish'd, Daniells and Margoliouth emend to ‘furnish’.

317. 23 art, Daniells and Margoliough emend to ‘are’.

318. 28 with, 1699 text reads ‘twith’.

319. 16 corrections, 1699 text reads ‘cnrections’.

321. 23 earth., full stop added by editor.

322. 36 S culptures, 1699 text reads ‘Sculptutes’ ; erratum corrects to ‘Sculptures’.

325. 18 That thou mayst, 1699 erratum is confusing ; it emends to read at p. 7, line 27, ‘That thou mayest’. This phrase however is at line 8 not line 27. Line 27 in the 1699 text reads ‘Thou mayst satisfie’ (p. 325, l. 33). Margoliouth reads ‘That thou mayst’ but changes ‘Thou mayst satisfie’ to ‘Thou mayest satisfie’. Daniells reads ‘mayst’ in both places.

331. 37 Contracts, Margoliouth emends to ‘contacts’ because of the word ‘touch’ in l. 38. See Margoliouth, Vol. II, pp. 226, 410. Daniells reads ‘contracts’. See Glossary.

333. 21 fingers, 1699 text reads ‘finger’. The AV reads ‘fingers’ ; see Song of Solomon 5.5. Daniells and Margoliouth read ‘fingers’.

333. 38 The prayer at the end of this Thanksgiving, p. 333, l. 38 – p. 334, l. 7, is adapted from Puente, The First Tome, p. 50. In Puente it reads as follows : ‘O infinite God, Center of my soule, convert mee to thee, that I may take rest, for thou madest mee for thee, and my hart is unquiet untill it come neere to thee. O eternall Father, seeing thou createdst mee that I might love thee as a sonne, give mee grace for thyne owne sake, that I may love thee as a Father. O only begotten Sonne of the Father, and Redeemer of the world, seeing thou createdst mee, and redeemedst mee, that I might obey, and imitate thee, ayde mee that I may allwaies obey thee, and imitate thee in all things.
