from Poems from the Early Notebook

Heer lies pure and precious Dust,
Enclosed in this Urne;
which at the Resurrection must
To life againe returne.
For though his dust in silence lies,
with other Earth engrost;
It is a Treasure of such price,
A graine shall not bee lost.
This Grave must him againe restore,
when the last Trump shall sound;
And hee alive as here to-fore
with endlesse Joyes bee crownd.
Here lie his bones, his Soule above,
Doth Heav'nly blisse enjoy;
His Memory enbalm'd with Love,
With us on Earth doth stay.
Mistake not Reader; I don't meane,
As if twere here alone,
That his dear Memory doth remaine,
Grav'd on this obscure Stone:
Tis not this Stone which after Death,
Doth make his Name to live;
It was his Life which so much breath,
To this dumbe Stone did give.
