Summary
Hospital at Home provides an alternative pathway of acute care that is traditionally delivered within hospital settings. This pioneering concept of care provides a potential solution to the increasing demand on acute hospital trusts and dwindling availability of hospital beds. The primary goal is to provide hospital admission avoidance whilst delivering high-quality acute care in a multi-disciplinary fashion. Senior decision-making and mobile diagnostics, such as point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), are critical to this model.
