Summary

O LORD, Thou art my God, I will extol Thee, I will praise Thy name, for Thou hast done wonderful things, even counsels of old in faithfulness and truth. I will give thanks unto Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Thy works; and my soul knoweth right well my low spirit and lack of discernment. Who am I, what is my house, that Thou hast brought me thus far ; that Thou hast placed my portion among loving companions hearkening to the voice of the living God in the paths of wondrous wisdom to walk in the garden, giving me to taste the fruit of the plants of the Tree of Life for the sake of the Torah and testimony and the reasons for the command of the King for His worship; and that Thou hast trained me in the ways of unification of the glorious and tremendous Name, to prepare the throne of David and to establish it! O Lord our God, Thou hast not forsaken us in our poverty and Exile, and Thou hast sent us the salve and the balm to give us the strength to endure the yoke of Exile; to select and to sift the roots of our souls in order to elevate all good things to become attached to the root and source of life. In Thy light do we see light to understand and be wise in the light of the King of Life's countenance. The intelligent shall shine as the brightness casting sparks on all sides, as the Zohar, our fortress in our Exile and our soul's redemption. Let our King come, he is triumphant and victorious.

And what shall we say unto Thee, O Lord our God, in this last generation, in which for long seasons Israel has been without the true God, and without a teaching priest and without Torah, `every man doing that which is right in his own eyes, and the power of heresy prevails. We have been left orphaned without a father. But Thou, O Lord our God, because of the love Thou hast borne for our ancestors, Thou hast fulfilled for us the verse: ‘It shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed’ [Deut. 31: 2 I].
