12 - A saving bequest (Waṣīyyah Munjīyyah)
Summary
In the name of Allāh, the Most gracious, the Mostmerciful.
We seek His help and assistance and through Him alone, pious acts are concluded. He guides to the straightpath and there is no might or power except throughAllāh, the Most high, the Exalted.
This is a counsel titled ‘Al-waṣiyyah al-munjiyah ‘an al-maḍarrātal-ḥijābiyyah lillāhi ta‘ālā wa lirasūlihī’ (The counsel that saves fromthe harms which is given for the sake of Allāh andHis messenger).
This is what is necessary for our companions andbrothers for Allāh's sake, those who have taken thepath from us, may Allāh guide them towards theirgoals and make them from amongst His best servantsand those whom He has granted happiness through Hisdoing.
Through the will of Allāh the Most high, this is anadvice from me to them. Firstly, it is obligatoryupon them to believe the contents of the verse,“There is nothing similar to Him whatsoever” sinceevery verse comes back to it and never departs fromits station. They must also believe in the contentsof Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ.This too contains all beliefs connected to Allāh.They should know what are the necessary attributesascribed to Him, what is possible and what isimpossible. They should also know what the necessaryattributes of the Prophets are, what is possible forthem and what is impossible. The details of this maybe found in the lengthy discourses and sufficientfor you is the ‘Aqīdat al-Sanūsīyyah’.
It is also incumbent upon them to search for thosethings that are necessary from the quarter ofworship in order to rectify and reform all acts ofobedience in order for it to be accepted by Allāh[since], “Verily the religion with Allāh isIslām”.
After establishing the performance of the fivecompulsory prayers without neglecting any of them,as well as other obligations like these, it isnecessary that they abundantly recite Lā ilā ha illalāh (There isno one worthy of worship except Allāh) because it ismore superior than all other forms of remembrance. The Prophet said: “The best remembrance is Lā ilā ha illalāh”; and hesaid: “The best that I and all other prophets beforeme said is ‘Lā ilā haillalāh’”.
